Dendera Temple:
The Temple of Hathor was primarily built during the Late Ptolemaic period under the rule of Ptolemy XII and Cleopatra VII, with later Roman additions. Despite being constructed by non-native Egyptian rulers, the temple's design aligns with classical Egyptian architecture. Notably, the front of the hypostyle hall was built by Emperor Tiberius.
The temple complex features depictions of Ptolemaic rulers, including a monumental relief of Cleopatra VII and her son with Julius Caesar, Ptolemy XV (Caesarion). The rulers are portrayed in Egyptian attire, making offerings.
Hathor, associated with healing, is reflected in the presence of a sanatorium within the complex. Pilgrims sought cures through bathing in sacred water, receiving unguents from Hathor's priests, and staying in quarters, hoping for a healing dream.
After exploring the temple, we will depart for Safaga Port.
